The product
- How is this different from a slideshow made from photos?
- Those tools replace your video: they take stills and assemble a synthetic tour with music and captions. bitehook doesn't touch your video at all — it generates a few seconds to put in front of the footage you actually shot.
- Will the join be visible?
- That's the thing the product is built around. The hook is generated to end on the exact first frame of your upload, so the handover is a continuation rather than a cut. It's also the honest risk: if a hook ever does read as a splice, the result isn't worth posting, and that's why every hook has a demo you can watch first.
- Can the hook have me in it?
- Yes, optionally. Upload a photo of your face in your profile and the hook can feature you. Leave it out and the hook uses a generic character instead.
- Do the demos in the catalog show what I'll get?
- Almost. A catalog demo is a hook followed by a short piece to camera about bitehook, so you can see the character speak. Your result doesn't have that second part — the hook ends on your first frame and your own video continues.
The process
- What do I upload?
- A video you already have. Up to 90 seconds and 250 MB, at least a second long, horizontal or vertical, in an ordinary phone or desktop format (mp4, mov, webm, m4v).
- How long does it take?
- Minutes rather than seconds — generating video is slow work. The upload itself is checked immediately, so if a file can't be used you find out at once instead of after the wait.
- Can I use a horizontal video?
- Yes. Both orientations are supported, and the hook is generated in the same orientation as your footage.
- Do I need editing software?
- No. One file goes in, one file comes out, already joined.
Money
- What is a credit?
- One second of generated video, rounded up. Only the generated hook costs credits — your own footage is free to upload and free to keep.
- Does my monthly allowance roll over?
- No. Subscription credits expire at the end of each billing period. Credits bought as a pack are separate and stay usable for 12 months.
- Is a regeneration charged?
- Yes — every completed generation costs credits, and the price is shown before you start one. Failed generations aren't charged.
- How do I cancel a subscription?
- In your account settings in the app. It stays active until the end of the period you've paid for.
Rights
- Who owns the finished video?
- You do. You keep whatever rights you had in your own footage, and we grant you the rights you need in the generated hook to publish and promote with it.
- Can I use the result in paid advertising?
- Yes. There's no separate licence for commercial or paid use.
- Can I put someone else's face in a hook?
- Only your own, or someone who has agreed to it. Uploading a photo of a person who hasn't consented is not allowed and is the one misuse we act on directly.
