Terms of Service

bitehook generates a short video fragment (a "hook") and joins it to the front of a video you upload, returning a single file. The hook is generated so that it ends on the first frame of your video.

We do not edit, cut, caption or otherwise alter your own footage. The service is the generation and the join, nothing more.

You need an account to generate anything. You must give a working email address, keep access to it, and you are responsible for what happens under your account.

The service is not directed at children, and you must be old enough to enter a contract where you live.

Generation is paid for in credits. One credit is one second of generated video, rounded up. The cost of a generation is shown before you start it.

A subscription grants a credit allowance for each billing period. That allowance expires at the end of the period and does not roll over. Credits bought as a one-off pack remain usable for 12 months from purchase, and are spent only after the current period's allowance.

Every completed generation is charged, including a repeat generation of the same hook. Generations that fail on our side are not charged.

Prices are in US dollars. Payment is taken by our payment provider; we do not store your card details.

You keep all rights in the video and any photo you upload. You grant us only the limited licence needed to run the service on it: to store it, process it, generate from it and return the result to you.

You confirm that you have the right to upload what you upload, and that everyone identifiable in it has agreed to it being used this way.

Source files are deleted once you save a result. We keep what is needed to provide and account for the service, as described in the privacy policy.

You may use the finished video for any lawful purpose, including paid advertising, without a further licence from us.

Generated video is probabilistic. We do not warrant that a particular hook will look a particular way, and taste is not a defect. This is why every hook in the catalog is published with a working demo: you can see what a hook does before you spend a credit on it.

You must not upload a photograph or likeness of a person who has not agreed to appear in a generated video. This is the clearest real-world harm this product could do, and we enforce it.

You must not use the service for anything unlawful, deceptive about someone's identity, sexually explicit, or targeting a person with harassment.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules, and we may refuse a specific generation.

Credits already spent on completed generations are not refundable, because the generation cost us money the moment it ran.

If the service fails to deliver a result you paid for, tell us and we will restore the credits or refund them. Statutory rights you have as a consumer are not affected by anything in this section.

You can cancel a subscription at any time from your account; it stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for. You can delete your account, which deletes your data as described in the privacy policy.

We may end the agreement if you break these terms, or on reasonable notice if we stop offering the service.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Subject to that, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

We are not liable for how a video you published performed, or for lost profit or lost opportunity.

We may change these terms; if a change materially affects you we will say so by email before it takes effect.

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, without affecting any protection you have under the mandatory law of the country you live in.
